In 2017, Sylvie entered a contest sponsored by KIDBOX, a kids’ clothing clothing company, and submitted a video explaining that she would use fashion to change the world by teaching children about sun protective clothing. KIDBOX selected her to join the 2017 and 2018 KIDBOX’ Kids Board of Directors and asked her to create a plan using $10,000+ to carry out her mission of promoting melanoma awareness while incorporating KIDBOX’s mission of helping impoverished children. She started RAYS AWARENESS and they created a Melanoma Awareness Day at PS 112 in Harlem and partnered with the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation CMPF’s founder, Maryellen Maguire-Eisen came to PS 112 and taught the kids about sun safety. We visited the children in their classrooms and read the children stories about the importance of sun safety. We distributed $10,000+ of sun-safe clothing donated by KIDBOX, plus 300 Snapper Rock swim shirts donated by the Foundation.

About the Kids Board of Directors
This elite force of 12 entrepreneurial kids between the ages of 8-14 were chosen for KIDBOX’s Kids Board of Directors by demonstrating leadership and passion for social good. They participated in a board meeting at KIDBOX HQ in New York City where they presented plans for creative community service initiatives in their hometowns with guidance from KIDBOX. The company has provided each member with $10,000 worth of KIDBOX clothing to donate to kids in need as well as extra funding to execute their meaningful community projects.
About KIDBOX
Launched in 2016, KIDBOX creates styled, curated boxes of clothing for kids full of premier brands with substantial savings. KIDBOX was founded with a social mission at its core to donate clothing to one million kids in need. Since then, the mission has evolved into creating moments for parents to start conversations about the importance of giving back and doing good with their children from an early age, priming kids to become kind people. This often happens when families select a charity for donation together. KIDBOX is focused on inspiring kids to do good with the support of KIDBOX’s Kids Board of Directors -- a board of 12 entrepreneurial kids spreading social good in their communities, and national Community Moms and Little Leaders programs. To date, KIDBOX has donated over $12 million in newclothing to children in need.
Pairing proprietary data science and machine learning with a team of expert stylists, KIDBOX creates a fun, easy and engaging shopping experience that starts online and delivers surprise and delight right to the doorstep of each customer, who often makes the opening and exploration of his or her KIDBOX a special event for the whole family. KIDBOX can outfit children from newborn to size 14, featuring over 130 premiere brands, such as Splendid, Jessica Simpson, DKNY, Disney, Reebok, and Quiksilver. In Summer 2018, KIDBOX introduced its exclusive brand lines: KIDBOX Miki B., KIDBOX Kid’s Club and KIDBOX Baby Basics.
KIDBOX is a VC-backed startup, led by Canvas Ventures. It was founded by Haim Dabah, founding board member of Delivering Good, and is led by CEO Miki Racine Berardelli, a member of the National Retail Federation Board of Directors.
